Rhythm Machine is a 1970s funk group from Indianapolis, Indiana. Their sound combines heavy bass, tight funk rhythms and prominent horns with a looser, jazz-influenced approach on a number of tracks. The group’s style is often compared with Earth, Wind & Fire, while also showing freer and more varied arrangements.

The music includes laid-back, spacey passages and love-oriented themes, with production that brings out guitar and keyboards and uses soprano sax to sharpen some of the stronger tracks. The group’s recordings include “You Got Action You Got Me”, “Lil’s Place”, “Put A Smile On Time”, “Thought My Love Was Free”, “Can’t Do Without You” and “Everybody’s Chippin”.
