RF is a musical moniker used by Ryan Francesconi, a multi-instrumentalist, media artist and programmer based in California. He is born in San Francisco in 1974.

Under this name, Francesconi makes music that combines acoustic and electronic elements. His work brings together voice, guitars, strings, horns and field recordings with subtle glitch effects, pop sensibility and custom software. The music is described as carefully structured, with each sound placed deliberately within the arrangement.

The name RF is also used for a Tokyo-based hip hop and jazz group associated with Rokugen Club. That project is led by guitarist Masanori Narukawa and DJ/composer Farah. Narukawa works as a studio musician with an active career in live support and recordings, while Farah has worked as a DJ and with bands after beginning as a vinyl shop buyer. The group’s sound is shaped by their experience as musicians and DJs, and it has drawn in collaborators and vocalists including Nick Woodmansey of Emanative, Benedic Lamdin of Nostalgia 77, Liz Elensky and Monasaa from Germany.
