reviver

reviver is a name used by several different bands, including acts from Canada, the United States, the Netherlands and Burma. The most detailed entries describe an alternative/grunge trio from Montreal, a Salt Lake City hardcore punk band, a Dutch heavy metal band formed in 1997, and a punk band that later uses the name RVIVR.

Montreal alternative/grunge band

The Montreal version of Reviver forms in mid-2012 as a trio with Paul Korycki on guitars and vocals, Amirhassan Aliakbar on bass, and Sacha Le Chene on drums. In early 2013, Mathieu Guimond joins on guitars and xylo, completing the line-up. After recording several demos, the band works on its first EP in Longueuil.

Salt Lake City hardcore punk band

Another Reviver operates as a hardcore punk band from Salt Lake City and includes members of Cool Your Jets. This group tours regularly and releases its first album, Versificator.

Dutch heavy metal band

The Dutch Reviver forms in 1997 and spends its early years searching for the right line-up and developing its heavy metal sound. During that period it records several demos. The track “Cycles” from the Gates of Time promo appears on the Metal Crusade 3 compilation from German metal magazine Heavy Oder Was. The line-up later includes drummer Tom van Veenhuijzen, vocalist Patrick van Maurik and bassist Stefan Brederode, alongside former members Fred Mantel and Tom Heemskerk on guitars, and ex-Montany members Patrick van Maurik and Stefan Brederode. The band releases the promotional MCD Osiris Eyes in 2004 and is then signed to the German label Remedy Records. Its first full-length album is recorded and mixed at Steelworks Studio in Holland, with mastering by Piet Sielck of Iron Saviour at Powerhouse Studio in Hamburg. The band also plays live regularly, including support slots for Helstar in Eindhoven and festival appearances at Dokk-em Open Air, Jamrock, and the Heavy Metal Maniacs festivals in Holland and Germany. The lineup history listed for this version includes Frans S Doodeman and Patrick van Maurik on vocals, Mich Heemskerk, Brian Kersbergen and Tom van Veenhuijzen on drums, Yick Fung, Ron van Kuringen and Stefan Berderode on bass, and Fred Mantel and Tom Heemskerk on guitar. The band breaks up in April 2006.

RVIVR

A further punk band begins in 2008 and is created by former Latterman and Shorebirds member Matt Canino. It later becomes known as RVIVR.
