Resurrection

Resurrection is a group from Glasgow, United Kingdom, active from 1998 to the present. It is a tribute act to The Stone Roses and is known as Resurrection: A Tribute to the Stone Roses. The band forms in 2001 after previously being part of The Complete Stone Roses.

Line-up

The group includes Ricky Toner on vocals, along with Jerry Levy, Matt Checkley and Mark Harper. Toner is Glasgow-born. The members keep the band going alongside other jobs, including cleaning and engineering.

Work and performances

Resurrection performs across the UK and Ireland. The group’s approach is based on presenting Stone Roses material with attention to the original recordings, and Toner states that the aim is to avoid poor imitation and to do the songs justice.

Context

Toner says he sees the Stone Roses as a lifelong influence and recalls seeing them live in 1990. The band presents itself as a tribute to the Manchester group formed in 1983 and led by Ian Brown.
