Reemah is a reggae singer from St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Her first recorded appearance is on “Chance to Grow”, a duet with Bambú Station that appears on the group’s Break the Soil album from 2006. She then releases a self-financed promotional EP called No Questions before issuing her debut album Check Your Words in 2012.

Style and themes

Her music sits in roots reggae and related reggae and dancehall styles, with conscious, spiritual and uplifting lyrics. Check Your Words

Check Your Words is a roots-focused debut built around live backing and a jazz-influenced horn section. Kedroy “Catalyst” Mitchell, a former keyboard player in Bambú Station, produces most of the album. Three tracks are produced by Tippy I of I Grade Records, and two by Jalani Horton of Bambú Station.
