Redshift

Redshift is a British electronic music group from the United Kingdom, working in styles that range from Berlin School to dark ambient. The group forms in 1996 and focuses on synthesiser-based composition, using older analogue instruments alongside more recent digital technology. Its sound is closely associated with equipment such as the Moog 3C.

Line-up and history

The group is founded by Mark Shreeve. Its line-up later includes Mark Shreeve, Julian Shreeve and James Goddard. Rob Jenkins is a long-term member for most of the group’s existence, but leaves before the seventh album, Redshift VII - Oblivion.

Style

Redshift works within electronic music, ambient, Berlin School and progressive electronic, with a strong space music character. The group’s approach combines vintage synthesiser methods with later digital production tools.
