Rednek

Rednek is a UK dubstep and electronic act based in the United Kingdom. The project is associated with Hackney in London and is described as having Jamaican family roots. Rednek develops as a producer and live performer, with over 19 years of production and performance experience.

Career

Rednek begins releasing material under its own name in May 2011 after spending years in the studio producing tracks for other artists. The project works with Rogue Industries at the start of its solo career. Its debut track, “I’m Not Skrillex”, uses a deliberate joke title that references Skrillex’s “My Name Is Skrillex”. Rednek also writes and directs the accompanying video, presenting it as a guide to becoming a dubstep artist in one month.

A second video, “They Call Me (Rednek)”, follows and helps draw wider attention. Rednek becomes known for performing its own vocals as part of live sets, combining studio production with stage performance. Its first United States tour in 2011 covers more than 20 cities, with the act performing its own material live.

Style and output

Rednek is identified with dubstep, massive dubstep, electronic and hip-hop. The project is noted for heavy bass production and for presenting itself as both a producer and a live act rather than a DJ-only project.

Album

Rednek’s debut album is ONE YEAR LATER, scheduled for release in May 2012 in the available account.
