Rebolledo is the solo project of Mauricio Rebolledo, a Mexican DJ and producer associated with minimal, electronic, minimal techno, disco and Latin-influenced club music. He releases on Hippie Dance and is also known for work in afro house, dance, deep house, deep tech, EDM and electronica.

Career

Rebolledo’s early solo work includes the 2011 debut album Super Vato on Cómeme. He also performs as one half of Pachanga Boys, a duo he forms in 2010 with Aksel Schaufler, better known as Superpitcher. The pair first introduce their style through compilations in the Kompakt Total series, then create their own label, Hippie Dance, to keep full creative control.

On Hippie Dance, Rebolledo and Pachanga Boys release EPs that include the tracks “Time”, “Black Naga” and “Poem For The Youth”. Their first album, We Are Really Sorry, appears in 2012. Rebolledo later returns to Kompakt with the mix CD Momento Drive in 2014; it is included in Resident Advisor’s Top Ten Mix CDs list for that year. The mix contains “Windsurf, Sunburn and Dollar”, which reaches number one on Spin magazine’s list of best dance songs for that year.

Remixes, collaborations and wider work

As a solo artist and through Pachanga Boys, Rebolledo releases remixes for Röyksopp, Tiga, John Talabot, Pional, Jagwar Ma and Fango. His 2017 reworks album Mondo Re Alterado includes collaborations with Superpitcher, DJ Tennis, Maceo Plex and Red Axes.

Beyond recording, he is a partner in two well-known clubs in Mexico: M.N. Roy in Mexico City and TOPAZdeluxe in Monterrey. He also works as a main collaborator on the Mayan Warrior project. His music is used by fashion brands including Chanel, Maison Martin Margiela, Versace and Karl by Karl Lagerfeld for runway soundtracks.

Recognition

Rebolledo is included in Forbes magazine’s list of fifty Mexican creatives with the most worldwide influence in 2015.
