Rebeka

Rebeka is a Polish electronic duo formed around singer and songwriter Iwona Skwarek, who begins the project in 2008 as a solo venture using a Casio keyboard. In 2010, producer Bartosz Szczesny joins her, and the pair develop a sound that contrasts their live and studio work: the live set is raw and direct, while the recorded material is arranged more carefully and built around melodic detail.

Early releases and recordings

The duo’s first release together is a remix of “Roksana” in 2011. Their first proper single, “Fail”, appears the same year on Brennnessel Records. Two further singles follow on the Portuguese label Discotexas: “Stars” in 2012 and “Nothing To Give” in 2013. They then issue “Melancholia” on Brennnessel Records in 2013.

Albums and EPs

Rebeka’s debut album, Hellada, is released by Brennnessel Records in 2013. It is named Polish Album of the Year in 2013 by Gazeta Wyborcza. In 2014, the duo self-releases the EP Breath, which includes the title track, “Into The Ground”, and a remix of “Breath” by South Korean band IDIOTAPE. Their discography also includes the single “Unconscious”, released by Brennnessel Records in 2014.
