Rattle On The Stovepipe

Rattle On The Stovepipe is a group active from 2003 and made up of Dave Arthur, Pete Cooper and Dan Stewart. Arthur plays 5-string banjo, melodeon, guitar and vocals, Cooper plays fiddle and vocals, and Stewart plays 5-string banjo, guitar and vocals.

The group builds a repertoire from traditional songs, ballads and dance tunes drawn from the British Isles and the Appalachian Mountains region of the United States. It develops an audience in folk clubs through this mix of material and performance style.

Its recordings include Eight More Miles, a 2006 CD made with Chris Moreton and issued on Wild Goose as WGS 333, and no use in cryin', a 2009 release with Dan Stewart. These recordings help extend the group’s reputation beyond the folk club circuit.
