Raresh is a Romanian DJ and producer associated with minimal, electronic, minimal techno, microhouse and tech house. He is born in Bacău and later lives in Bucharest.
Career
Raresh begins DJing at the age of 15 in a small club in Bacău, his home town. He later becomes resident DJ at the city’s leading electronic music club, playing there every weekend. After moving to Bucharest in 2003, he enters the capital’s club scene, which marks a major step in his development as a DJ.
He is invited to play the Black Sea beach parties in 2004 and joins Sunrise Booking Agency, which he sees as an important turning point in his career. In 2005 he plays warm-up sets for artists he admires and holds a summer residency for Sunrise events on the Black Sea coast. During this period he shares decks with Richie Hawtin, Magda, Steve Bug, Josh Wink, Pascal FEOS, Troy Pierce, Marc Houle, Pier Bucci and Tobi Neumann.
He also performs at the opening of a Luciano and Thomas Melchior event in Bucharest, and later appears at East Club in Frankfurt alongside Toni Rios, Chris Wood and Frank Lorber. In 2006 he takes part in The Sound Of The Sixth Season World Tour, playing back-to-back with Chris Tietjen as warm-up for Sven Väth. He also plays the warm-up set for Ricardo Villalobos in Bucharest, then joins him for a back-to-back set at the after-party.
Style
Raresh describes his early attraction as being to the tech side of electronic music. His sound develops into a blend of minimal, tech-house and house, presented in a warm, delicate and forceful style. He also holds that a DJ is not a complete artist until they become a producer, and that learning and practice remain central to music.
