Rapalje

Rapalje is a Dutch Celtic and folk group from Groningen, active since 1996. The band performs Celtic folk drawn from Ireland and Scotland, and also includes occasional Dutch folk tunes with a distinctive twist.

Line-up and instruments

The group comprises William, Maceál, Dieb and David. Between them, they play a wide range of instruments, including fiddle, bagpipes, low whistle, tin whistle, gitouki, squeezebox, mouth organ, bodhrán and tea-chest bass.

Style and performance

Rapalje is associated with medieval kilts and stage props, and its concerts combine ballads, faster songs and Celtic melodies. The group presents itself as a live act built around strong energy and a theatrical, time-travelling atmosphere.
