Raime

Raime is a British electronic duo from London, made up of Joe Andrews and Tom Halstead. They release music on Blackest Ever Black and work in a field often described in relation to ambient, dark ambient, electronic, experimental and dubstep, although their music also draws from minimalist techno, chamber ambient and industrial sounds.

Career

The duo debut in 2010 with the Raime EP, a three-track release that balances minimalist techno, chamber ambient and references to the sound of 4AD and Factory records in the early 1980s. Their music is also compared with Demdike Stare’s occult ambient dub, though it resists easy categorisation and has been described with terms including industrial, techno and dubstep.

Albums

Their debut album, Quarter Turns Over A Living Line, appears in 2012. In 2016 they follow it with Tooth, a record that uses guitar and moves away from the darker ambient and industrial techno elements associated with their earlier work.
