Radical Redemption

Radical Redemption is the performance name of Joey van Ingen, a Dutch hardstyle DJ and producer from the Netherlands, born in 1990. He grows up in the east of the country and develops an early interest in music of many kinds. At the age of 10, he begins playing drums, focusing on the rhythmic side of music. As a drummer, he performs in several bands, with Pacific becoming his main project.

Early work and move into hardstyle

While working as a drummer, he also comes into contact with harder dance music. He decides to learn to DJ, buys two turntables and starts practising. He later organises hardstyle parties in his garage for friends, then becomes resident DJ at a local club. Around the beginning of 2009, he starts producing hardstyle and spends his spare time developing his production skills.

Style and collaborations

Radical Redemption develops a style built around rhythmic elements, raw sounds, heavy kicks and dark atmospheres, alongside an interest in experimentation and unusual sound choices. At the end of 2010, his work draws the attention of Crypsis, leading to the collaboration “Darkness is Calling”, which is played at Hard Bass 2011.

Groups and projects

He is also known as one quarter of Minus Militia and one third of Marshals of Mayhem. His work is associated with hardstyle and hardcore techno, and he releases music on Redemption Records.
