QUEEVA
QUEEVA is a country artist, born in the United States and raised in an Irish family of six children. Her parents are from Ireland, and she divides her time between the United States and Ireland. Gaelic is often spoken at home, and she grows up with Irish language and music alongside country music.
Early life and influences
She develops an early interest in country storytelling and knows full lyrics to songs from a very young age. Dolly Parton is one of her earliest major influences, and she identifies “Coat of Many Colors” as a favourite song. She also connects country music with Celtic sounds and the roots of Appalachian country, which reflects her family background and Irish upbringing.
Songwriting and recording
QUEEVA works with Nashville-based singer, songwriter and producer Jamie O’Neal, who helps her develop as a songwriter. Her material includes “Who You Really Are,” an upbeat song about identity and self-belief; “Young, Wild & Free,” which reflects her Irish roots and her visits to Inishmore in the Aran Islands; “Close to You,” a gentle song about closeness and connection; and “Dream Too Big,” an autobiographical song about persistence and ambition. She describes music as a way of speaking from the heart and wants her songs to encourage young listeners.
Performance and acting
By the age of seven, she is entering talent competitions and attracting attention for her vocals. She performs at festivals and at writers-in-the-round events, where she appears alongside songwriters older than her and gains experience in the studio. Alongside music, she also takes acting roles, including work on the television series Chicago Fire.
