Quantum Fantay

Quantum Fantay is a Belgian instrumental rock group from Lokeren, active since 2002. The band works within progressive rock, space rock and jam band territory, and is also described as part of the Belgian symphonic prog rock scene. Its music is associated with psychedelic and space rock styles.

Formation and members

The group begins with two friends and former members of Oregon, Pieter Van den Broeck, known as Pete Mush, and Wouter De Geest, known as Jaro. They reunite in Lokeren to develop a sound they call liquid space rock. To expand the line-up, they bring in Gino Verhaegen and Karel Slabbaert, also known as Charles Sla.

Style and name

Quantum Fantay is linked to bands such as Ozric Tentacles as a reference point for its style. The band name comes from a typing error made while writing the word “fantasy”.
