Pyro is a Danish drum and bass producer from Copenhagen. He starts making music at the age of 14 and first focuses on drum and bass when the style appears commercially in 1995. He develops an interest in the darker and more technical sides of the genre, and his work is associated with drum and bass, neurofunk, technoid and darkstep.

In 2000, Pyro and Paul Reset sign to Trouble On Vinyl under the Semantix name. This makes him the first Danish producer to release drum and bass internationally. Around the same period, he also establishes a DJ career and performs at Roskilde Festival two years in a row.

Releases and labels

Solo signings follow on labels including Outbreak and Perspective. One of his tracks, “Falling”, featuring singer Shiraz, reaches number 3 on BBC Radio 1’s 5 Mighty Rollers chart. He later builds a catalogue of more than 20 releases on labels including Nerve, ELP Collective, Industry, Habit, Leet, Deeper Realms and Shadybrain.

Nerve Recordings

In 2001, Pyro and Paul Reset found Nerve Recordings. The label helps introduce artists including Gridlok, Noisia and SKC to a wider audience.

Style and performances

Pyro develops a distinctive techno-influenced drum and bass sound that ranges from softer material to harder tracks. He receives support from DJs including Vicious Circle, Phace, Raiden and Cause4Concern. He performs across the United States and Europe, including in Estonia, Hungary, Russia, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Macedonia, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands, and holds residencies in his home city at Jungle Fever, Dynamics and DNB Zone.
