Pulse
Pulse is a name used by several different acts, covering electronic music, rock, metal and related styles. The entries associated with the name include a minimalist techno project from Germany, a collaboration between Steve Jansen of Japan and Yukihiro Takahashi of YMO, several rock bands from North America and Europe, and multiple metal groups.
Electronic and techno projects
One Pulse project makes minimalist techno built around uptempo electronic sounds. It releases the album Surface Tensions on Eye Q Records in 1995 under the names T. Eckart and DJ Good Groove, which correspond to Tommi Eckart and Klaus Löschner. The track Cariño (Silencio) appears on Trance Europe Express 3 and is remixed on a number of compilations. Another Pulse project is described as techno space metal from Linz in Austria.
Collaborations and rock bands
Another Pulse is a collaboration between Steve Jansen and Yukihiro Takahashi. A separate Pulse forms in the South Shore of Massachusetts in early 2010 as an alternative rock band and releases a debut EP, Pulse - EP, through digital outlets including iTunes and AmazonMP3 in mid-March 2010. There is also a Lebanese garage rock band from Beirut, formed in 2009, which records the demo tracks The Train Lady and Sorry Town in January 2010.
Further acts using the name include a rock band from Sydney, Nova Scotia; a hard rock band from Dallas-Fort Worth made up of veterans from the local scene, including former members of Lift, Reverent, Trial X Stone and Eerie Ln; and a New Haven, Connecticut band that develops out of The Bram Rigg Set and The Shags. That Connecticut group is first known as The Pulse Of Burritt Bradley, records the psychedelic track Burritt Bradley, appears on the Beyond The Calico Wall compilation, and later releases an album described as a heavy rock record. Tommy Violante leaves in 1969, and the band continues until 1972.
Metal groups
The name also belongs to a Belgian war metal and metallic hardcore act with Laurent on guitar, Jeroen on vocals, Lawrence on bass and Willem on drums. Another Pulse is a trance metal band from Toulouse in Midi-Pyrénées, France. That band releases the album Move on in 2010 and the Glitter & Blood EP. A further entry describes a dance metal, trance metal, cyber metal, metalcore and pop metal act, while another notes an Albany, New York-based band that features Maria Brink before she forms In This Moment.
