Psychologist is the project of Barış Emre Günemre. It is described as experimental electronic music with gospel and electronica elements.

Career

The project is associated with Iain Woods in the available biographical details, where Woods is described as a former children’s television presenter. He wins the 2008 Channel 4 talent awards music category for his debut Stanislavsky EP while on work experience at London label Transgressive Records.

Psychologist’s Waves of Ok EP begins a two-part release known as Epidural. It is recorded in one day at St. Matthias Parish Church in London and appears in March 2011 on Not even/Moshi Moshi Records. The second part, Propeller EP, follows in August of the same year. The track “Séance” on that release contains a sample from Richard Linklater’s 2002 animated film Waking Life.

When particles collide is first demoed in 2011, then reworked as a new version co-produced with Worskett & Bellwood and mixed by Matt Wiggins. This marks Psychologist’s return in February 2014 on Woods’s own label, Lovely Face for Radio. “Worlds away” premieres in October 2014, and the debut album Autophobe is announced for release in the following year. The singles “Bella” and “Fiend” appear in November and December, and the debut album is eventually released under the title Psychologist by Iain Woods.
