Probe
Probe is a name used by several different artists and groups.
Darryl Booth
One Probe alias belongs to Darryl Booth of New York, also known as Probe DMS. Under this name he is responsible for the track “The Day”, which appears on Brownswood Bubblers Two and Brownswood Bubblers For Japan, and also under the title “The Day” on DMS. Booth graduates from the Institute of Audio Research in New York City and is also a member of SpyMusic and Cvees.
Victor Bernardo and Telmo
Another Probe is a psytrance producer from Portugal, Victor Bernardo. He has been involved with music since the late 1980s and plays guitar, bass, drums and keyboards. He starts playing at the age of 14 and travels across Portugal with his band Hornet. His first contact with electronic music production comes through a Commodore Amiga 500. Probe also includes Telmo, who plays drums from the age of 8, plays with Hornet and knows Bernardo since childhood. Their sound moves from an analogue feeling into electronic music, and more recently focuses on chillout, ambient and world music. Probe is one of Spectral Record’s live acts and has two tracks released by the label.
Dzheimz and Ninja
Probe is also a collaboration between Dzheimz and Ninja, two drum and bass artists and DJs from Estonia. They release the album Gas-Mask in 1999 and their work is influenced by Ed Rush and Optical. They later continue together as Dzheimz & Ninja and still perform together from time to time.
