Prins Thomas

Prins Thomas is a Norwegian electronic musician and DJ associated with nu disco and space disco. He begins to appear in dance circles in 2003, and is known for helping develop a form of disco that draws on instrumental rock and 1970s jazz as well as older disco records.

Career

He first works closely with Lindstrøm, and the pair are linked as Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas. At their early performances, Prins Thomas is the DJ while Lindstrøm performs live. He later works more independently and produces for Kompakt, Mindless Boogie and his own label, Full Pupp.

His productions include the twelve-inch Ferrara, which is noted for its heavy bass sound. As a DJ, he is also associated with sets that mix widely across styles and a wide range of tracks.

DJ work and releases

His debut mix CD, Cosmo Galactic Prism, presents an unusually broad track selection, ranging from Hawkwind and Joe Meek to Bob James alongside dance music. His radio podcast also follows the same approach, combining obscure and familiar records and emphasising rare selections.
