Primordial
Primordial is an Irish black, folk, doom and pagan metal group from Skerries, Ireland. Formed in 1987, the band develops a sound that combines black metal with Celtic folk elements and draws on Irish musical and cultural roots.

The band begins as a black metal act with folk influences, then moves toward a more distinctive and darker style across its early releases. Career and releases
Primordial first appears with the 1993 demo Dark Romanticism and the 1995 debut album Imrama. The 1998 album A Journey's End marks a major stylistic shift, with a more personal and sombre approach and a stronger blending of the band’s influences. The EP The Burning Season and the album Spirit the Earth Aflame further establish the group’s characteristic sound. Storm Before Calm follows in 2002 with a harsher edge.
The Gathering Wilderness is released in 2005 and is described as receiving strong critical regard. Later albums include To the Nameless Dead, Redemption at the Puritan's Hand and Where Greater Men Have Fallen.
