Premiesku

Premiesku is a Romanian electronic music group made up of George Găvănescu, Robert Precup and Silviu Sandu. The project grows out of a collaboration between Livio & Roby and their associate George G, who create the name by playing with words and anagrams; it is intended to suggest both “premiere” and a Romanian-sounding surname.

Sound and approach

The group works with compact four-to-the-floor structures shaped by deep house, Detroit techno and tech house. Their music is described as combining varied inspirations into a recognisable sound, with energetic grooves and layered sonic details. Their tracks also draw on Balkan cultural heritage and elements of surreal theatre, and are presented as hypnotic, dynamic compositions aimed at the listener’s heart, body and mind.

Releases and labels

Premiesku’s production appears on labels including Cecille, All In and Desolat. The group’s debut album is Constant, released on Desolat, and the indirect EP also appears on Desolat.

Live performance

The project develops an analogue live setup rather than relying only on computers. The three musicians design custom hardware consoles made from parts of different machines, built in a workshop in Romania, and use these in performance as part of their no-computer approach to electronic music. This concept is presented at Time Warp Lab in Mannheim and in the workshop “Premiesku analog sound”, organised by Desolat.
