Postmortem Promises
Postmortem Promises are a death metal, deathcore, grindcore and metalcore group from Essex, United Kingdom. The band forms in late 2005 and is active from 2006 onwards.
Early releases and label work
The group first draws attention in the UK underground metal scene with a three-track EP titled We Play Weddings. It then signs to Thirty Days of Night Records, alongside Bring Me the Horizon, and releases a self-titled five-track EP through the label in 2006. This recording continues the band’s mix of hardcore and metal elements.
Live activity and wider profile
Postmortem Promises spends the next few years playing more than two hundred shows with acts including The Red Chord, Despised Icon and Suicide Silence. It also builds an international following through online platforms including MySpace and Facebook.
On Broken Foundations
In 2008, the band signs with Siege of Amida Records and begins work on its ten-track debut full-length album, On Broken Foundations. The record features crushing breakdowns, large vocal lines, hardcore breaks, groove and lead guitar lines, and is described as reflecting the band’s development over its first four years. The group also has new members by this point.
