Popeye

Popeye is a Bangladeshi artist associated with nu metal, rapcore and white rap. The act begins in 2000, after the idea has been developing for about five years before that. It forms around the aim of combining rap with a heavy metal backing.

Formation and line-up

The project starts with Fere and Gianne, two young musicians from Vodnjan, who begin putting a band together. They first recruit Zheeka after meeting him on the Pula promenade. The early line-up also includes Pero on bass and Vicel on drums.

Vicel later brings in Lego to replace him on drums. Pero then leaves the band, after which Zheeka brings in Mrlja on bass and also adds Pizzoni (2207) to try percussion. DJ Skill later joins after a performance in Rovinj, but does not stay for long. The current line-up listed is Zheeka on guitar, Gianne and Fere on vocals, Mrlja on bass and Lego on drums.

Activity and performances

Popeye plays a triple-digit number of concerts across Croatia and neighbouring countries. The group also performs with Sepultura and ADF, and receives a strong response from audiences.
