Poor Things

Poor Things are an indie rock group from Glasgow, active since 2013. The band begins as a project between three school friends, who form it while still in their teenage years.

Style and influences

Their sound draws on the melodies of Weezer, the harmonies associated with Teenage Fanclub, and the guitar-driven approach of Malkmus and Pavement. They are described as an indie-rock band based in Scotland, and their music is tagged as alternative and indie rock.

Releases and recognition

The group releases a self-titled debut LP in 2014. That record receives strong critical attention and is named among the end-of-year favourites of Podcart and Scottish Fiction. They later work on a second record and issue a split cassette with Catholic Action on Fuzzkill Records, which sells out its physical copies within a week.

Live performances and labels

Poor Things play shows across the UK and in France, and appear at T in the Park and Belladrum. They also release No Way José on Gerry Loves Records as part of a split 7-inch with Pinact, Sharptooth and Halfrican.
