Pond

Pond are an Australian psychedelic rock band from Perth, Western Australia, active since 2008. The group begins as a collaborative project with a revolving line-up, built around the idea that different players can be brought in for different parts.

Line-up

Since 2016, Pond comprise Jay Watson, Nick Allbrook, Shiny Joe Ryan, Jamie Terry and James Ireland. Watson is also a member of Tame Impala, while Allbrook is a former member of Tame Impala. Terry is associated with The Silents. Other members listed with the band include Joseph Ryan, Kevin Parker and Cameron Avery.

Albums and style

The band’s debut album, Psychedelic Mango, appears in 2009 and combines psychedelic rock and psychedelic pop elements. Their second album, Corridors of Blissterday, is completed live with an eight-piece band over five days and follows later in 2009. Frond follows in 2010 and has a heavier pop influence than the earlier releases. Beard, Wives, Denim is recorded in 2010 and later gains critical attention when it appears in 2012. Hobo Rocket follows in 2013.

The band’s seventh album, The Weather, appears in 2017 on Marathon Artists. Their ninth studio album, 9, follows in 2021. Pond are also associated with psychedelic pop, psychedelic rock and synth-pop.
