Poliça

Poliça is a Minneapolis-based US indie pop and alternative rock group active from 2011. The band forms around Channy Leaneagh and Chris Bierden, and its line-up also includes Ryan Olson, Drew Christopherson and Ben Ivascu. Leaneagh handles vocals and synthesizers, Bierden plays bass, Olson is credited with production, and Christopherson and Ivascu play drums.

The group forms in 2011 after Olson and Leaneagh’s involvement in the soft rock supergroup Gayngs. Its sound is described as synthpop, and it releases material on This Is Poliça. Poliça issues four albums: Give You the Ghost, Shulamith, United Crushers and When We Stay Alive.

Give You the Ghost is the band’s debut album and it receives critical praise. A comment from Justin Vernon of Bon Iver’s founder appears in coverage of the album, and the record includes four singles, among them “Dark Star”, which reaches number 2 on BEL (Vl) Ultratip. The second album, Shulamith, reaches number 47 on BEL (VI) and number 1 on US Heatseekers Albums. Singles from that album include “Tiff (feat. Justin Vernon)” and “Chain My Name”.
