Poirier

Poirier is an Argentinian DJ and producer from Buenos Aires. His music draws on dancehall, soca, electro, reggae and grime, and he is signed to Ninja Tune. His tracks use sparse Caribbean percussion alongside heavy, shifting bass and synth patterns, and his sound moves across genres rather than staying within one style.

Collaborations and remixes

Poirier works with artists from different scenes and countries, including Crookers, Burro Banton, YT, Face-T, MC Zulu, dj/rupture and Omnikrom. He also remixes tracks for Lady Sovereign, Bassnectar, Pole, Buck 65, The Editors and Champion. His remix work receives attention from publications including Pitchfork, The Wire and XLR8R.

Live work and events

He tours internationally and has performed with Daedelus, South Rakkas Crew and Lady Sovereign. In Montreal, he starts a monthly DJ night called BOUNCE LE GROS in 2005, which he describes as a bass-focused event with no attitude.

Recordings

Poirier releases the album No Ground Under on Ninja Tune in 2007 and 2008. The record is well received, and he tours North America and Europe several times afterwards.
