Pocket Satellite

Pocket Satellite is a group from the United Kingdom, active since 2007. The act centres on Maya Zosmer and builds its sound around a small multi-member line-up; it is described as having five members drawn from four cities and playing 15 instruments.

Origins and line-up

The group forms after a chance meeting at an open mic night in Sheffield, where the musicians first connect over hot chocolate on a quiet Thursday evening. A fresh line-up is later introduced, alongside mention of a “Toy Train” EP.

Releases and performances

Pocket Satellite releases the Toy Train EP, which is said to be inspired by the discovery of an antique glockenspiel. The group supports Jenny Owen Youngs at Monto Water Rats, appears as main support at The Plug, and performs for Drowned in Sound at The Harley in Sheffield.

Broadcast and radio appearances

The band is introduced by Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music and performs a live session with Iain Hodgson on BBC Radio Sheffield’s Raw Talent show.

Activity

The group performs new songs at venues across the country.
