Plump DJs

Plump DJs are a London-based electronic music group active since 1999. The act consists of Andy Gardner, Lee Rous and King of the Beats. Working across big beat, breakbeat and breaks, they develop a sound that draws on electro, house and bass music.

Career

Lee Rous and Andy Gardner begin performing and producing together after meeting in the late 1990s. They emerge through the early breaks scene and build a reputation for rhythm-led club music with a strong electronic edge.

The group’s profile grows through releases such as A Plump Night Out and Eargasm. These records lead to their Eargasm and Headthrash parties at Fabric in London, a venue that becomes closely associated with their live and club presence.

Releases and label work

Plump DJs use the Grand Hotel Records imprint to develop their sound and to release their own productions. The imprint also serves as a platform for collaborators and protégés connected to the group.

Recent Grand Hotel tracks include Boomer and Light Fantastic. The group also records for Punks.

Remixes and support

They remix artists including Deadmau5, Loops of Fury and Stanton Warriors. Their tracks receive play from Carl Cox, Moby, Crookers, Zinc, Kissy Sell Out and Zane Lowe.
