Play Date is a United States-based group led by Shanti Wintergate and Greg Attonito, who is also known for his work with The Bouncing Souls. The project makes indie pop and indie rock for children and families, with songs built around playful, educational and encouraging themes.

Background

Wintergate and Attonito develop the project from their shared interest in music and adventure. After touring the United States to read and sing from their children’s book I Went for a Walk to children of all ages, they return home and create a full album aimed at family listening.

Music and themes

The group’s songs include Rad, which focuses on self-esteem, Anyone Can Sing and Imagination, which encourage singing from the heart and using creativity, The Number Song, which uses a playful rock-steady rhythm to tell a counting story, and Dance Like A Monster, a track designed to get children and adults dancing. The material is described through themes of imagination, confidence, movement and education.
