Pixie Lott, born Victoria Louise Lott, is an English singer-songwriter and actress from Bromley, United Kingdom. She works in pop, dance-pop, R&B and soul, and is associated with the label Pixie Lott Limited.

Early life and training

Lott is born in 1991. She begins singing in church and later receives a scholarship to the Italia Conti Academy of the Arts in London at the age of 11. Two years later, she moves into West End musical theatre, appearing in a revival of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and in a BBC One production of The Sound of Music. Her nickname, Pixie, comes from her mother.

Career

She debuts in 2009 and quickly achieves chart success in the United Kingdom. Her first two singles, “Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)” and “Boys and Girls,” both reach number one in 2009. These releases lead into her first album, Turn It Up, which is followed by a re-release, Turn It Up Louder. The re-release includes “Broken Arrow,” which is a hit in the UK.

Her debut album is certified double platinum in Britain. Other singles from the album include “Cry Me Out,” which reaches number 12, “Gravity,” which peaks at 20, and the title track, which reaches number 11.

Lott then releases her second album, Young Foolish Happy, in 2011. It is certified gold and includes the number one single “All About Tonight” as well as the Top Ten singles “What Do You Take Me For?” and “Kiss the Stars,” the latter charting in 2012.

Her self-titled third album, Pixie Lott, appears in 2014. It is preceded by “Nasty,” which reaches number nine, and the album debuts at 15 in the UK.

Other work and appearances

Before her recording career develops, Lott writes for other artists, including Dutch X Factor winner Lisa Lois, and tours with the Saturdays. She also continues as an actress and appears as a contestant on the British TV show Strictly Come Dancing in 2014.
