Pigs Might Fly
Pigs Might Fly is a Hungarian nu metal band that forms in October 2006. The group’s line-up is Baky András on drums, Kovács Gergely on guitar, Sándor Attila on vocals, Szűcs Sándor on bass and Tóth Róbert on guitar.
Early releases and live activity
The band gives its first concert in April 2007, around half a year after forming. In spring 2007 it puts out its first single, Fevarin EP, which is not sold in shops but is downloaded widely from the band’s MySpace page. The release brings the group attention from both media and audiences.
During 2007 the band plays a run of concerts and appears with Subscribe, Blind Myself, Superbutt, The Idoru and ManGod INC.
Second single, touring and first video
In 2008 the band records its second single, Melophobia, at Bakery Studio. This release is also distributed online rather than through shops, and is downloaded by more than 40,000 people from the band’s homepage. National radio stations play the band’s songs frequently. In spring 2008 the group makes its first music video, for Left-Handed Polar Bear.
After that, Pigs Might Fly tours with Solution, continuing through the summer festival season. In summer 2008 it plays its first show outside Hungary. In October 2008 the band marks its second anniversary with a full-house concert for 500 people. Work on its first album begins in November 2008 at Bakery Studio.
Albums and later work
The debut album, Pig City Life, appears in February 2009 on Edge Records. After its release the band tours 30 dates with Insane. During spring, songs from the album are featured on mixed CDs in Hungary and Bulgaria, and Inverse Mermaid and Rose Plank are played on several European radio stations.
The band continues to work on further recordings, including a second video planned around that period.
