Pighead
Pighead is a brutal death metal band from Berlin, Germany, active since 2007. The group also has links to Karlsruhe in its early description, and its sound is identified with slam death metal and brutal death metal.
History
Pighead forms in 2007 by Denny H. on guitars and Robert A. on drums. The initial line-up is completed by Morten W. on vocals and Robert S. on bass. The band releases its first demo, Demo 2007, in 2007, presenting a style built around standard death metal with slam breakdowns.
The group later expands its sound by adding a second full-time vocalist, Martin R. A further demo follows in 2009, before Pighead releases its debut full-length album, Cadaver Desecrator, independently in 2010.
Releases and line-up changes
After the debut album, Morten leaves the band. During live shows in 2011, Robert S. is temporarily replaced by Aike W. on bass because of a hand injury. In early 2012 the band issues a VHS music video for the single Kill the Living, Eat the Dead, from its next album. Pighead then releases its second full-length album, Rotten Body Reanimation, in 2012.
In May 2012, Martin R., Robert S. and Robert A. leave the band after disagreements over the group’s direction. Denny H. then recruits additional performers including Conor Downes on bass, Hermann on drums and Wille Kurr, vocalist of Jehacktet, to help promote the new album on tour across Germany and other central European countries.
