Pigeon
Pigeon is the recording name of Belgian singer-songwriter Janko Beckers. The project is associated with hardcore, funeral hardcore, French, Midwest emo and emo.
The name is also used for several other acts with the same name, including bands and solo projects from Moscow, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Brisbane, Chicago, Warwick, Berlin, Seattle, Nantes and Margate. Among these are a Moscow post-Midwest emo act active from 2012, a Los Angeles experimental hardcore band from 2006, a New Jersey pop-punk band formed in 2010 and split in 2012, an electro-pop project from Brisbane that begins in 2010, a Chicago indie rock and shoegaze artist, a post-hardcore band from Warwick, New York that forms in 2010, a Berlin shoegaze and post-punk band, a Seattle punk rock act, a chaotic hardcore, screamo and sludge band from Nantes, and a Margate group that crosses Afro-disco, grunge, no wave and jazz.
Other descriptions attached to the name refer to a Los Angeles band linked with experimental, thrash and noise punk; a New Jersey group whose name comes from a recurring theme on the Wonder Years' album art; a Brisbane collective combining electronic and organic instruments; and a Warwick project built around shifting line-ups, layered guitars and a wide range of influences. One description of the Nantes act identifies its style as loud, heavy and slow-moving in parts, with the band calling its approach “funeral hardcore”.
