Pica Pica

Pica Pica is the solo project of Rebekka Maria Markstein, an Oslo-based German musician who also performs in Road Movie and previously played in Maribel. The project sits within shoegaze and dream pop, and is built around her own writing and recording.

Background and sound

Markstein develops the material privately, recording songs at home as a solo practice. The project focuses on dreamy melodies and a sound associated with bedroom recording, with a strong emphasis on her voice and songwriting.

Releases and themes

Its self-produced EP, Oh Captain! My Captain! EP, gathers songs centred on star-crossed love, revenge and lullabies. The record is described as marking a new direction for the project, with playful and sentimental songwriting at the centre.
