Phil Mison is a UK DJ, producer and composer best known for recording as Cantoma. He works in chillout, downtempo, ambient and lounge music, and is associated with the Café del Mar sound.

Career

Mison gets his first break in 1991, when he warms up for Darren Emmerson. A few years later, José Padilla, the DJ and owner of Café del Mar in Ibiza, hears him play and invites him to become resident at the venue. He spends two years there, providing music for sunset sessions, before returning to the UK to focus more on recording and travelling.

Recording aliases

He records under several names, including Cantoma, and also works through the projects Frontera and Reverso 68.

Work as a DJ and producer

Mison maintains a regular DJ schedule that takes him around the world, alongside time spent producing and composing under his different aliases.
