Phaxe is the Danish progressive/psytrance project of Kevin Josefsen from Copenhagen, Denmark. His music is in electronic, progressive trance, psychedelic and psytrance styles, and he works as a one-person project.
Background
Josefsen develops an early interest in music and rhythm, and begins collecting records after earning his first money. Before focusing on music, he spends more time on graffiti and street art. He later starts making music with his friend Dan Hessner using Nintendo equipment, before moving on to Reason and then Cubase.
He has a strong preference for trance, techno and large open-air sound system experiences, and he describes this as central to the kind of music he makes. He creates his music at 5th Floor Studios in Copenhagen, where he works with a computer and hardware and software tools.
Training and work
In 2005, he attends a media school in Vig, Denmark, where he spends six months learning recording and studio work. After that, he takes a job as a sound and light engineer for a Danish company, which he continues to do alongside his music.
Projects and collaborations
Alongside Phaxe, he works on other projects including High & Mighty and Sinister Silence. Sinister Silence is a progressive trance project with Dan Hessner and uses a more powerful style with mostly offbeat basslines. High & Mighty is formed with Morten Granau and focuses on slower, groovier beats with a melodic character.
Releases
Phaxe releases his first track on IONO Music in 2007. After that release, he continues building his reputation through further tracks and begins working towards an album under the Phaxe name.
