Pharrell Williams is an American singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer and fashion designer from Virginia Beach, United States. He performs under the mononym Pharrell and works in contemporary R&B, hip hop, pop, pop rap, pop soul and R&B.

Career

Williams works with Chad Hugo in the production duo the Neptunes, which produces soul, hip hop and R&B music. He also serves as lead vocalist and drummer in N*E*R*D, a rock, funk and hip hop band he forms with Hugo and childhood friend Shay Haley. His other associated groups include Child Rebel Soldier, The Magnificent Six, Surrounded by Idiots and Shark City Click.

As a solo artist, he releases the single "Frontin'" in 2003 and his debut solo album, In My Mind, in 2006. His second album, G I R L, follows. Through the Neptunes, he produces hit singles for a wide range of recording artists.

Awards and work

Williams has won eleven Grammy Awards, including two as part of the Neptunes. He is also active in fashion and media.

He owns i am OTHER, a media venture and multimedia creative collective that operates as a record label and umbrella for his work. His associated labels and publishing companies include More Water From Nazareth Publishing, Inc., Waters of Nazareth Publishing and Neptune Productions. i am OTHER also covers projects such as Billionaire Boys Club, Ice Cream, Billionaire Girls Club, Bionic Yarn and a YouTube channel launched in 2012.
