Pezz

Pezz is a Canadian punk group from Meadowvale, Canada. The line-up includes Ian D’Sa, Jonathan Gallant, Benjamin Kowalewicz and Aaron Solowoniuk. The band is active from 1993 to 1999 and later becomes known as Billy Talent.

History

Under the Pezz name, the band releases early recordings including the tapes Demoluca and Dudebox, followed by the full-length album Watoosh! in 1998. In 1999, the group changes its name to Billy Talent after finding that another band already uses the Pezz name. The new name comes from a character in Michael Turner’s novel Hard Core Logo.

Context

The name Pezz also refers to a separate American punk band from Memphis, Tennessee, active from 1989 onward, but the Canadian group is the one that later continues as Billy Talent.
