Peter Oren

Peter Oren is a singer-songwriter from Bloomington, Indiana, whose music combines elements of folk, country and blues. He is known for a deep, textured vocal tone and for writing contemplative songs in an Americana and alt-country style.

Career

Oren releases his first full-length album, Living by the Light, in 2016. It is self-released and has a spare arrangement. Around this period, he begins performing live more frequently, often appearing with only his guitar for accompaniment.

In 2017, he makes his debut on Western Vinyl with Anthropocene, an album with a socially conscious focus. The record is produced by Wilco drummer Ken Coomer, who also helps assemble the backing band. It is recorded in Nashville and takes its title from the unofficial geological epoch shaped by human impact.

Associations

Oren draws attention from figures including Joe Pug and Ken Coomer. His work sits within the broader singer-songwriter, folk and alt-country traditions, with a strong emphasis on lyrical and reflective writing.
