Peter Capaldi

Peter Dougan Capaldi is a Scottish actor, film director and musician. In music, he is a former member of the early 1980s post-punk band The Dreamboys and later releases solo material under his own name. His debut solo studio album, St. Christopher, appears in 2021, followed by Sweet Illusions in 2025. His solo singles include “If I Could Pray.”, “St. Christopher”, “In Person”, “Bin Night” and “Is It Today”.

Capaldi is also known for acting work including the twelfth incarnation of the Doctor in Doctor Who and Malcolm Tucker in The Thick of It. For The Thick of It, he receives four British Academy Television Award nominations and wins Best Male Comedy Performance in 2010. He also wins an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film and the BAFTA Award for Best Short Film for his 1993 short film Franz Kafka's It's a Wonderful Life. Beyond that, he writes and directs the drama film Strictly Sinatra and directs two series of the sitcom Getting On.

His other screen roles include Mr. Curry in Paddington and Paddington 2, and The Thinker in The Suicide Squad.
