Pete Roe

Pete Roe is a British folk singer-songwriter from London. He plays several instruments, including guitar and piano, and works within the London folk scene. His playing draws on British folk guitarists of the 1960s such as Bert Jansch and John Martyn, while his songwriting is shaped more by American songwriters including Paul Simon, Neil Young and Ryan Adams.

Career

Roe’s debut album, Propeller, is released in 2006. His later album Our Beloved Bubble appears in 2013 and includes the full versions of the double A-side taster track Midnight:Mystery. The album covers a range of subjects, including encounters, reflections, pub studies, love and friendships, set against a varied musical backdrop. Final touches on the record come from producer Ethan Johns.

Collaborators and associations

He is respected by other musicians in the London folk scene, including Laura Marling, Mumford & Sons and Ethan Johns, and also by US artists such as Ryan Adams. On Our Beloved Bubble, he is joined by Ross Holmes and Matt Menefee, both from Nashville. Roe is also a member of Mt. Desolation.
