Perkelt

Perkelt is a Celtic and pagan folk group based in London, UK, formed in 2008 and active since then. The band describes its music as “Speed Folk”, combining fast rhythms, Celtic melodies and pagan-themed lyrics with an emphasis on freedom and joy.

Its sound brings together drums and guitars, recurring exchanges between fiddle and recorder, pagan vocals and the low, ethnic timbre of didgeridoo. The group draws on pagan traditions, with songs that often use stories from magic, nature and medieval folk tales.

Members

The group includes Rubén Yon'Ton, Kaya Le Bonte-Hurst, David Maurette, Duncan Menzies, Jay Frazer, Paya Lehane and Stepan Hoc. In one lineup, Paya Lehane performs recorder, vocals and percussion; Stepan Hoc plays guitar and sings; Duncan Menzies plays fiddle and sings; David Maurette plays drums and percussion; and Jay Frazer performs on sliding didgeridoo and vocals.
