Perico

Perico is a Melbourne group that writes and performs music drawing on alt-rock, folk-tinged bar-room styles and Latin-inflected rhythms. Its sound combines jerky guitar-led passages with woozy, folk-like elements, cornet, circular refrains, handclaps and guttural shouting, and it often uses a quiet-loud structure without building to a conventional wall of guitars.

The group also works with live projected animation from Paper Cinema, which adds a visual element to its performances. The music is described as varied in instrumentation and notable for its rich colour and surreal feel.
