Perception

Perception is a name used by several different acts, including a Detroit techno project, a French jazz quartet, an unreleased experimental band, and a technical metal band from Oxford in the UK.

Detroit techno alias

One Perception identity is an alias of Detroit-based techno DJ and producer Chuck Gibson. He also performs as Hi Tech Funk and is a member of Underground Resistance, the Detroit techno collective.

French jazz quartet

Another Perception is a French quartet featuring Siegfried Kessler, Didier Levallet, and Zao drummer Jean-My Truong. This version of the group predates Truong’s involvement with Magma, and one of its later recordings comes from the period after Seffer leaves Magma and forms Zao with François Cahen. Only one of the group’s hard-to-find albums has been reissued.

Unreleased experimental project

Perception also refers to an unreleased self-described “Experiencemental” band. Two albums circulate on torrent sites under the titles . . . and No One Can Understand Why This Is Happening, But No One Can Deny That It Is.

Oxford metal band

A further Perception is a technical metal band from Oxford, England, formed in 2011. Its line-up includes Ben on vocals, Paddy on guitar, Al on bass and vocals, and Will on drums. The band’s first EP, Collapse, appears in 2016, and its first music video is for the song “Castles” from that release.
