Pell

Pell is a songwriter from New Orleans who later relocates to Starkville, Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina forces his family to move in 2005. He describes carrying the musical culture of New Orleans with him after leaving the city, and links that experience to a sense of resilience that shapes his work.

Early development

While still in high school, Pell starts making beats for friends using a beat box his father gives him. He uses those production skills on his first mixtape, That Feel Good, which appears in 2010.

That Feel Good and TFG

In the same year as the mixtape, Pell forms the collective That Feel Good (TFG) with friends. The collective name also matches the title of his first mixtape, linking his early production work with the group identity he builds at the start of his career.
