Paul Draper

Paul Draper is an English singer-songwriter from Liverpool, born in Wavertree in 1970. He is best known as the lead singer and a founding member of the rock band Mansun, formed with bassist Stove King and guitarist Dominic Chad. His work is associated with indie rock and Britpop.

Work with Mansun

As a member of Mansun, Draper helps form the band's core line-up alongside Stove King and Dominic Chad. He later compiles and mixes the aborted fourth album sessions for release in the Kleptomania box set.

Collaborations and production work

Outside Mansun, Draper works with Paul Oakenfold in an uncredited role on the album Bunkka. Together they record the instrumental trance track "Descent" in 2000, which appears on Perfecto Presents Travelling. He also co-writes and co-produces "Alone in My Room" by Skin, released in 2005, and works on other tracks for her second album. Draper produces for the Derby band Komakino and collaborates with Dutch DJ Mason on the 2006 Ibiza anthem "Exceeder".

Solo activity

In 2006, Draper reveals that during the recording of Kleptomania he is diagnosed with a malignant cancer on his middle finger and undergoes chemotherapy. He later writes and records material for a solo project, sharing updates through online diary entries. In 2016, he announces the EP One, and its single "Feeling My Heart Run Slow" appears as a pre-order bonus and on streaming services.
