Pattern J is a French frenchcore producer. He develops an interest in music after hearing Thunderdome compilations from the age of 10, then begins making music at 12 with a Casio synthesiser.
Early work and equipment
He starts producing on hardware at 14, using a 303 Groovebox and later a 505. At 17, he is selected for the French final of the Roland contest with a trance track. He also buys an RS7000 and uses it to perform live sets for fun.
Style and development
Pattern J first moves from house to techno after meeting a friend who teaches him computer-based music. He later rediscovers hardcore through artists such as Micropoint and Speed Freak, alongside other acts associated with Audiogenic sublabels. His work is rooted in frenchcore, and the tags attached to him also place him in hardcore, hardtek, electronic and speedcore.
Release history
He becomes more committed to producing hardcore after meeting Venom and Goetia and sending them a demo. In 2006, they release him on the DualKore label.
